Maturing Believers is the second step in CSMBC's strategy of making life long disciples for Jesus Christ. The Bible clearly teaches that a disciple should grow to know Jesus more deeply and intimately every day.        (2 Peter 3:18). We teach that growth in Jesus takes place as we study the Word of God, enter into a daily prayer life, become active in small group Bible studies such as Sunday School and become connected with other believers.

 Biblical Basis

1.  We have been given a Great Commission.
2.  We have been told to pass on the teachings of Christ.
3.  We are to be doers of the Word.
4.  We are to follow Christ and set an example for others.
5.  We are to grow to be like Christ.

Resources

Below you find several resources that will help you as you seek to fulfill this step in the discipleship model.  These resources range from discipleship training to resources for studying the Bible.  You will also find a PDF version of the book written by our pastor.  This book is entitled, "A Practical Guide to Studying the Bible," and will help you learn how to study the Bible.  These resources are valuable tools to help you grow in your walk with Christ.  However, the greatest area we can grow in is our study of God's Word.  We would always encourage you to spend daily time in the Word of God.

In addition Pastor Sims has written a study guide resource to help a disciple gain a better understanding of what they read in their Bibles.  The study guide is available in PDF here.

Strategy

In addition to our Discipleship Model (Baseball Diamond), we have also developed a strategy for each step (Base)  in the process.  This strategy outlines the biblical basis, the attitude the believer must demonstrate, potential training, putting the training into practice and the results that should come from a disciple fully living out this base.
